Annotation Tools Not Working – A1 PDF Editor (iOS) Troubleshooting

If you're unable to use highlight, underline, draw, or other annotation tools in A1 PDF Editor, follow these steps to resolve the issue

1. Make Sure the File Is Editable

  • Annotations may not work if the file is locked, read-only, or scanned without OCR.

  • Try opening another PDF to see if tools work there


2. Enable Annotation Mode

  • Tap the Edit or Annotate icon in the top/bottom toolbar.

  • Select the appropriate tool (e.g., Pen, Highlighter, Note).

  • Try annotating again.


3. Update the App

  • Go to the App Store → Tap your profile → Scroll down and update A1 PDF Editor, if listed.


4. Check for iOS Updates

  • Some iOS versions may cause tool glitches.

  • Go to SettingsGeneralSoftware Update and install any available updates.


5. Reinstall the App (if needed)

⚠️ Backup your important files if sync is off before uninstalling.

  • Delete A1 PDF Editor, then reinstall it from the App Store.
